Once your specimen is submitted, results are typically processed and available within a few business days. However, processing times may vary. When ready, your results will be delivered in a clear, easy-to-understand report. If any results suggest a potential infection, you’ll receive a call from an independent healthcare coordinator. Independent physicians are also available to answer any questions or discuss your results in detail.

Test Details & What It Measures
A Zinc test measures the concentration of zinc in your blood, an essential mineral your body needs for immune function, wound healing, cell division, and enzyme activity. Zinc also plays a role in supporting skin health, fertility, taste and smell, and growth and development during childhood. Low zinc levels can lead to symptoms like hair thinning, poor wound healing, frequent infections, loss of appetite, and skin rashes. Testing is typically done with a serum or plasma blood sample, especially if deficiency is suspected due to chronic illness, poor diet, or gastrointestinal conditions that impair absorption.
Normal serum zinc levels typically range from 70 to 120 mcg/dL, but values may vary slightly by laboratory. Deficiencies can often be corrected with dietary adjustments or supplementation, while excessively high levels, usually from overuse of supplements, may lead to nausea, headaches, or interference with other minerals like copper.
