Once your specimen is submitted, results are typically processed and available within a few business days. However, processing times may vary. When ready, your results will be delivered in a clear, easy-to-understand report. If any results suggest a potential infection, you’ll receive a call from an independent healthcare coordinator. Independent physicians are also available to answer any questions or discuss your results in detail.

Test Details & What It Measures
A Vitamin B1 test measures levels of thiamine, a water-soluble B vitamin essential for converting carbohydrates into energy and supporting nerve, muscle, and heart function. Thiamine plays a key role in metabolism and is crucial for brain health.
Deficiency is uncommon in the general population but can occur in individuals with alcohol use disorder, malnutrition, bariatric surgery, chronic illness, or certain medications that interfere with absorption. Symptoms of deficiency may include fatigue, irritability, muscle weakness, nerve pain, and in severe cases, Wernicke’s encephalopathy or beriberi.
Normal whole blood or plasma thiamine levels typically range from 70 to 180 nmol/L, depending on the method used. Testing may be recommended if someone is showing signs of deficiency or is at high risk. Early diagnosis and supplementation can reverse symptoms and prevent neurological damage.
